New online social network targeting young people's efforts to fight childhood obesity!!!

Hello friends! I would love to invite all of you to join our new online social network created by teens dedicated to fighting the obesity epidemic: www.werefedup.com

ABOUT US

WereFedUp.com is a website created and maintained by 40 youth leaders from South Los Angeles and Baldwin Park about ways to fight obesity - like how untruthful food marketing can be or not having safe places to be active affects health choices. This is your chance to get in touch with other youth about complicated issues related to obesity as well as share your creativity and passion for food and fitness. Join our social network as we fight against obesity and stand up for healthier affordable food choices, safe places to exercise outdoors and generate policy change in our communities. Create a profile and start telling your friends how you can make a difference.

PARTNERS:

The California Center for Public Health Advocacy, Baldwin Park
The Accelerated School, South Los Angeles
The Department of Public Health, Los Angeles County

In 2005, the Healthy Eating Active Communities (HEAC) program was established by The California Endowment and was the first program of its kind to utilize policy and environmental change strategies as the primary approach to reversing the childhood obesity epidemic. The pioneering work of the HEAC program has led to the emergence of a new type of childhood obesity prevention initiative that seeks to create walkable environments rich with healthy food choices and safe opportunities for physical activity, that support changing individual eating and physical activity behaviors.
